Tuan
Chau Group has recently submitted to Quang Ninh People's
Committee the adjustment plan of Tuan Chau International
Entertainment resort with the main idea to pour more
than 20 million tonnes of soil and rock down to the bay
to encroach further 400 hectares of water surface in the
west of Tuan Chau island, serving for the construction
of 3 villa groups figuring 3 flowers. Halong bay travel guide
The Group also gave plans to protect the environment and
prevent sedimentation of Halong Bay caused by the
levelling works. Previously the group had 7 times
requested to adjust planning of the Tuan Chau area and
was approved by the local government in 2011.
Over the past years, Unesco has made recommendations for
the management and conservation of the World Heritage
Site of Halong bay, specifically at the meetings of the
World Heritage Committee, Unesco has requested Vietnam
to explain the isssues affecting the global outstading
value of Halong bay, including the impact of tourism and
the aqua culture within and around the bay area, impact
of the construction projects that encroached the sea,
environmental protection...
According to Dang Van Bai, vice chairman of the National
Heritage Board, in an effort to make the committment to
Unesco, in recent years Quang Ninh province has made
great effort to protect the "treasure" it is possessing.
The board also found that the preservation and promotion
of heritage value of Halong bay has made significant
progress. Bai said that in February Vietnam will make
the final report on the status of preservation of Halong
bay. Thus the proposal of Tuan Chau group is obviously
raising the risk of Unesco continuing to put more
warnings to the preservation of this heritage

exploitation of Ha Long Bay is still in the process of
finding an appropriate model. For example, in 2014, the
People's Committee of Quang Ninh proposed guidelines for

allowing private enterprises to exploit Halong would
damage it?
